Figs Cake In Seed Bread

  • 1 vanilla bean
  • 13 figs fresh, cut into quarters
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 4 slices cereal or seed bread

    In a frying pan, pour the honey, lemon juice, and the cinnamon powder.

    Once it starts to boil, add the peeled figs and the vanilla zest, and keep stirring until the figs caramelize slightly. Set aside.

    Run a small round cake pan through water and line it with plastic wrap.

    Cut the bread into strips, and then in half lengthwise.

    Line the pan with strips of bread, pour the fig syrup on top, then bread again, and so on until you run out of ingredients. The last layer should be bread, press down well so all layers stay close together.

    Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for a few hours before serving.
