- vegetable oil
- 4 or 5 potatoes
- 1 lb. fish fillets
- 2/3 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 Tbsp. vinegar
- 2/3 c. water
- malt or cider vinegar
- salt
Directions

1Cut potatoes lengthwise into 1/2-inch strips.

2Cut fish into 2 x 1 1/2-inch pieces.

3Heat oil (2 to 3 inches deep) in deep fryer to 375°.

4Fill basket 1/4 full with potatoes.

5Slowly lower into hot oil (if oil bubbles excessively, raise and lower basket several times).

6Use long handled fork to keep potatoes separate.

7Fry potatoes until golden, 5 to 7 minutes.

8Drain potatoes.

9Place in single layer on cookie sheet (keep warm).

10Repeat with rest of potatoes.
