- 1 lb. fish fillets (cod or halibut)
- 1 lb. potatoes
- 1/4 c. flour (for batter)
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 Tbsp. water
- 1 Tbsp. oil
- 1 egg white, beaten
- 1/4 c. flour (for dipping)
- oil or shortening for deep frying
Directions

1Thaw fish, if frozen.

2Cut into pieces, 1 x 3-inch (or so). Cut potatoes into similar pieces (1 x 3-inch).

3Combine flour and salt.

4Add egg yolk, water and oil.

5Stir until smooth.

6Fold in egg white.

7Fry potatoes in deep fat at 375° until golden brown. Drain and keep warm.

8Dip fish in 1/4 cup flour and then in batter.

9Fry until golden brown, at least 1 1/2 minutes per side.
