Ingredients

  • 2 lb. round steak
  • 2 cans (8 oz) tomato sauce with cheese
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 2 large red potatoes, cut into eighths
  • 6 carrots, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 c. coarsely chopped celery
  • 1/2 medium green pepper, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 slice white bread with crust, cubed

Directions

    Trim excess fat from meat and cut meat into pieces about 1 inch square.

    Combine all ingredients in a dutch oven, mixing thoroughly.

    Cover tightly and bake in a preheated 250° oven for 5 hours.

    Stir once or twice during cooking period.
