Ingredients
- 3 to 4 lb. beef short ribs, cut into serving size pieces
- 1/2 c. soy sauce
- 1/4 c. dry sherry or orange juice
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 2 tsp. five spice powder or 1/2 tsp each: crushed fennel seed, ground cinnamon, aniseed, crushed szechwan peppercorns or 1/4 tsp. pepper and 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
Directions

1Place ribs in a plastic bag, set into a deep bowl.

2For marinade, combine soy sauce, sherry or orange juice, garlic, sugar, lemon juice and 5 spices.

3Pour mixture over ribs.

4Seal bag. Marinate in refrigerator 6 to 24 hours turning bag occasionally. Remove ribs from bag, reserving marinade.

5Place ribs, bone side down in a shallow roasting pan.

6Pour marinade over ribs.

7Bake, covered, in a 350° oven for 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until tender. Makes 4 servings.
