  • 4 c. shredded cabbage (raw)
  • 2 c. sliced carrots (raw)
  • 1 lb. small white beans (raw)
  • 2 c. finely chopped onions (raw)
  • 1 Tbsp. minced fresh garlic
  • 3 c. water
  • 2 c. chopped tomatoes (raw)
  • 3 Tbsp. dried basil
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • salt to taste
  • a little Worcestershire sauce, Texas Pete or chili powder (if desired)

    Place all ingredients in a large deep cooking pan and bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer 2 to 3 hours or until beans and vegetables are tender.
