Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 2 Tbs. baking powder
- 1 Tbs. sugar
- 1 Tbs. ground black pepper
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 4 oz. unsalted butter (1 stick), cut into small pieces
- 1 cup low-fat plain yogurt
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Directions

1Preheat oven to 400F.

2Line baking sheet with parchment paper, or coat with cooking spray.

3Combine flour, baking powder, sugar, pepper and salt in large bowl.

4Rub butter into flour mixture with fingers or use two knives to cut into flour mixture until it resembles coarse meal.

5Stir in yogurt and cheese.

6Shape dough into ball on lightly floured work surface.

7Roll out dough to 3/4-inch thickness, and cut into 18 to 20 circles with round cookie cutter or glass.

8Place scones 1 inch apart on prepared baking sheet.

9Bake 20 minutes, or until golden brown.

10Transfer to cooling rack or serving platter.
