  • 1 cup Self Rising Cornmeal
  • 2/3 cup Milk
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 dash of Salt
  • 1 Cooking Oil

Directions

    Put enough oil at bottom of your pan to coat.

    *Cast iron pans do the best* set heat to around med/med high.

    Get your oil hot.

    Mix batter in a bowl.

    When oil is hot drop in rounded spoonfuls (like you would do a pancake).

    I make sure the oil is sizzling all around so you get the wonderful crispy edges.

    When it is brown flip it and brown the other side.

    Transfer to a papertowel, then enjoy!

    This is southern cooking at its finest!

    *you can also add chopped onions to your batter if you like*
