  • 1 c. plain flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1/4 c. cold water

Directions

    Position knife blade in processor bowl; add flour and salt. Top with cover and process, pulsing 3 to 4 times or until combined. Add shortening to flour mixture; process 5 to 6 short pulses until mixture resembles coarse meal.

    With processor running, slowly add water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until dough forms a ball. Cover and chill 30 minutes.

    Roll as usual. Bake at 425° for 10 to 12 minutes.

    Yields pastry for one 9-inch pie.
