Foolproof Traditional Mashed Potatoes

  • 7 medium russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup milk (must be warmed before using)
  • 1/3 cup butter or 1/3 cup margarine
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt (to taste)
  • 3/4 teaspoon pepper (fresh ground and to taste)

Directions

    Place potatoes in a saucepan and cover with water. Cover and bring to a boil.

    Cook for 20-25 minutes or until very tender. Drain well.

    Add milk, butter, salt and pepper; mash until light and fluffy. (I use an electric mixer for this).
