- 1 1/2 c. sifted cake flour (plain will do)
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.

2Cream the shortening; add sugar and cream until fluffy.

3Add eggs, then dry ingredients alternately with milk and vanilla a small amount at a time.

4Beat after each addition.

5Pour into greased pans.

6Bake in moderate oven (350°) for 25 minutes.

7Makes two 8-inch layers. Frost as desired.

8Good with Chocolate Frosting.
