- 6 slices dry bread
- 1/2 c. raisins
- 1/4 c. bran
- 2 eggs, separated
- 6 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Remove crusts from bread, spread slices with butter.

2Cut into squares and arrange in layers in an 8-inch greased baking dish. Sprinkle each layer with raisins and bran.

3Beat egg yolks.

4Add 2 tablespoons of the sugar, nutmeg, milk and flavoring.

5Mix thoroughly and pour over bread.

6Bake in oven at 350° for about 35 minutes.

7Cover with meringue made of stiffly beaten egg whites and remaining sugar.

8Bake in slow oven at 300° about 20 minutes or until meringue is lightly browned on top.
