French Apple Dessert

• 6 cups thinly sliced peeled tart apples (4 to 6 medium)
• 1 cup sugar
• 3/4 cup Bisquick baking mix
• 3/4 cup milk
• 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine, softened
• 1 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
• 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
• 2 eggs
