French Lettuce Peas

  • 4 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen peas
  • boiling, salted water
  • 8 green onions, finely chopped (white part only)
  • 1 c. finely chopped lettuce
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • salt
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar

Directions

    Cook peas in boiling, salted water until almost tender.

    Drain water.

    Stir in onion, lettuce, butter and sugar.

    Cover and cook over high heat a few minutes until onions and lettuce are limp. Salt to taste.

    Add almonds, if desired.

    Bake 5 minutes at 400°.
