  • 1 3/4 c. coarsely chopped apples
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 3/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice
  • 1/2 c. margarine, melted
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 c. raisins (optional)
  • 1/2 c. nuts or more

Directions

    Add sugar to peeled and chopped apples.

    Let stand 10 minutes. Stir in melted margarine and beaten egg.

    Blend.

    Add to apple mixture flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg.

    Fold in raisins and nuts.

    Bake in 7 x 11-inch pan (greased) at 350° for 40 minutes or until golden brown.

    Serve plain or sprinkled with powdered sugar.
