  • 12 cup butter or 12 cup margarine
  • 12 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 13 cup molasses
  • 2 cups flour
  • 12 teaspoon baking soda
  • 34 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 12 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 12 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 14 teaspoon clove
  • 1 14 cups apples, peeled and grated
  • 13 cup milk
  • whipping cream (optional)

Directions

    Cream together butter and sugar.

    Beat in eggs one at a time.

    Blend in molasses.

    Mix flour, baking soda, salt and spices; add to creamed mixture alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with four mixture.

    Stir in apple.

    Pour into greased and floured 9x9 inch baking pan.

    Bake in preheated 350 F oven for 45 to 50 minutes, until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean.

    Cool in pan for 10 minutes and turn out onto rack.
