  • 1 c. plus 3 Tbsp. water
  • 1 c. plus 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 tsp. butter, softened
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • few drops red food coloring
  • 4 c. fresh strawberries, hulled and rinsed
  • 1 (9-inch) pie shell
  • whipped cream

Directions

    In saucepan over medium heat, cook water, sugar and cornstarch until thickened and clear.

    Cool at room temperature.

    Add butter, vanilla and food coloring.

    Mix in strawberries and pour into baked pie shell.

    Chill.

    Top with whipped cream and garnish with berries.
