- 4 or 5 green tomatoes
- 3 Tbsp. vegetable shortening
- 1/2 c. meal
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- dash of pepper
Directions

1Wash tomatoes; dry and cut into 1/4-inch slices.

2Coat in mixture of flour, meal, salt and pepper.

3Place in skillet in which shortening has been heated to a moderately hot temperature and fry, turning slices until they are golden brown.
