- 4 large firm green tomatoes
- 1/2 c. all-purpose meal mixed with 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- bacon drippings or shortening
Directions

1Cut tomatoes into 1/4-inch slices.

2Coat tomatoes in flour/cornmeal mixture; salt and pepper.

3Place in heavy skillet containing bacon drippings.

4Fry slowly until very brown, turning once.
