- 4 or 5 medium green tomatoes
- 1/3 c. meal
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- dash of pepper
- 1/4 c. shortening
Directions

1Wash tomatoes; remove stem ends.

2Cut crosswise into 1/2-inch slices.

3Combine meal, salt and pepper; coat tomato slices with meal mixture.

4Brown in shortening on one side; turn.

5Reduce heat; cook until slices are brown on both sides.

6Serve hot. Yield:
