- 6 1/2 c. water
- 1 1/2 c. yellow cornmeal
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. butter
Directions

1Bring 5 cups water to boil.

2In bowl add 1 1/2 cups water with cornmeal and salt.

3Add mixture gradually to boiling water, stirring constantly.

4Cook 3 minutes.

5Reduce heat to low and cook 15 minutes longer.

6Pour into greased loaf pan.

7Cool to room temperature.

8Cover and refrigerate.

9Loosen mush along sides with knife.

10Place on inverted plate and turn over.

11Slice 1/4-inch thick.

12Fry over medium heat in large skillet.

13Brown each side, turning once.

14Transfer to platter.

15Keep warm in 300° oven.

16Serve with butter and corn syrup.
