- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 1 pkg. cake yeast
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 1 c. fruit or vegetables
Directions

1Dissolve sugar and yeast in lukewarm water.

2Add yeast mixture to rest of ingredients.

3Mix well.

4Cover with towel; let rise for 40 minutes.

5Stir down and add 1 cup of any fruit or vegetable. Stir down again.

6Drop by spoonful in deep melted shortening. Fry, turning once until golden.

7(Bananas are especially good this way.)
