  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. Sauterne Rhine wine
  • 1/3 c. grated lemon rind
  • 1/3 c. lemon juice
  • 3 c. milk
  • 2 c. cream
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 4 egg whites
  • nutmeg

Directions

    Mix 1 cup sugar, wine, lemon rind and sugar; allow to stand until sugar is dissolved.

    Combine milk and cream; add wine mixture gradually and beat until frothy.

    Add salt to egg whites and beat until stiff.

    Add remaining sugar gradually, beating well after each addition.

    Pour milk mixture into punch bowl, top with spoonfuls of egg white mixture sprinkled with nutmeg.
