Ingredients

  • 1 lb. unwaxed cucumbers (4 c. packed) sliced thin
  • 3/4 lb. yellow onions (2 c. packed) sliced thin
  • 4 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. water
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp. dried dill or sprig of fresh dill

    Mix cucumber, onion, salt and water in large bowl and let stand 2 hours.

    Drain.

    Return vegetables to bowl. Add sugar, vinegar and dill.

    Let stand, stir until sugar dissolves and covers vegetables. Pack in Ziploc Freezer bags and freeze.

    Serve thawed but ice cold.

    Yield 1 quart.
