- 1 c. butter
- 2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. water
- 3/4 lb. currants
- 3/4 lb. raisins
- 2 Tbsp. soda
- 6 c. flour
- 2 Tbsp. cloves
Directions

1Cream butter, add sugar slowly while beating. Add eggs one at a time, beating well.

2Add molasses, cloves, fruit, then water with soda.

3Lastly add flour.

4Chill throughly, several hours or overnight.

5Shape into small long rolls the length of greased baking sheet.

6Brush with egg yolk mixed with 1 Tbsp. milk.

7Bake 375° oven until brown, about 15 minutes.

8While hot, cut diagonally across roll.
