  • 1 c. margarine
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 3 1/2 c. flour (use 1 c. to coat fruit and nuts)
  • 1/2 lb. chopped dates
  • 1 (8 to 10 oz.) pkg. candy orange slices
  • 8 oz. coconut
  • 2 c. chopped nuts
  • 2 c. powdered sugar
  • 1 c. fresh squeezed orange juice

Directions

    Cream the butter and sugar.

    Add eggs and cream.

    Put soda into buttermilk and add alternately with flour.

    Fold in fruits and nuts.

    Grease and flour an angel food cake pan and fill with batter.

    Bake at 325° for 1 hour.

    Let cool slightly and remove from pan.
