Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 2 Tbsp. boiling water
  • 1 c. butter or margarine
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 lb. dates, cut into thirds
  • 3 slices glace pineapple, cut into wedges
  • 1 1/2 lb. glace cherries, cut into halves
  • 1/2 lb. walnut meat halves
  • 1/2 lb. pecan halves
  • 1/2 lb. Brazil nuts, cut into thirds

    Cream butter and sugar.

    Add eggs and dry ingredients and soda mixture.

    Mix well and add fruits and nuts.

    The dough is very stiff; use hands to mix.

    Drop by teaspoon on cookie sheet.

    Bake at 325° for 10 to 12 minutes.

    Keep stored in airtight container. Also can be frozen.
