  • 2 c. cold water
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 lb. seedless raisins (yellow)
  • 1 lb. seedless raisins (dark)
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. citron, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 c. lemon rind
  • 1 c. orange rind
  • 1/2 c. sliced cherries
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
