- 3 c. fruit (may use peaches, nectarines, blueberries, blackberries or Florida sliced pears, home canned or frozen)
- 1 stick butter
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. salt (optional)
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. water
Directions

1Fill 13 x 9-inch baking pan 1/2 full with fruit.

2In a large bowl, cream butter and 1/2 cup sugar.

3Add milk, mixing together. Stir in flour, baking powder, vanilla and salt (if not using self-rising flour).

4Mix well and pour over fruit.

5In a small bowl, mix 1 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water; pour over batter.

6Bake at 350° for 1 hour.
