  • 2 sticks Butter
  • 1-1/2 cup Flour
  • 3 cups Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoons Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder (heaping Teaspoons)
  • 1-1/3 cup Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • Ground Nutmeg (optional)
  • 3 cups Fruit (Blackberries, Peaches, Apricots, Apples, Pears, Raspberries Or Blueberries) Fresh Or Frozen

    Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

    Melt butter in a 3-quart baking dish.

    Combine flour, 2 cups of sugar, salt and baking powder. Stir into the melted butter in the baking dish. Add milk and vanilla. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Stir again.

    Mix fruit and remaining 1 cup of sugar and bring to a boil. As soon as it boils, take off heat and pour over the batter. Don't stir.

    Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes.
