Ingredients
- 2 c. pastry flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 6 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 c. chopped or sliced fruit
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/2 c. milk
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients; add shortening and mix lightly with fork.

2Add egg yolk to milk; add to dry mixture to make soft dough.

3Roll half the dough 1/4-inch thick; cut into quarters. Fit each into muffin pan.

4Fill with fruit; sweeten to taste. Pinch edges together on top.

5Repeat with remaining dough.

6Bake in hot oven at 425° for 15 minutes; reduce heat to 375° and bake 15 minutes longer.

7Apples, peaches, strawberries or rhubarb may be used.

8Makes 8 dumplings.
