  • 1/2 c. oleo
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

    Sift flour and sugar together.

    Bring to a boil, shortening, oleo, water and cocoa.

    Pour in flour-sugar mixture.

    While hot, add buttermilk, eggs, soda and vanilla.

    Bake in a large shallow pan for 20 minutes at 400°.
