Ingredients
- 3/4 c. butter
- 2 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 3 eggs
- 3 sq. unsweetened chocolate
- 3 c. sifted cake flour or 2 3/4 c. minus 2 Tbsp. regular flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. soda
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. ice water
Directions

1Cream first 3 ingredients together.

2Add the eggs.

3Beat until light and fluffy.

4Melt and add the chocolate.

5Blend into mixture. Add dry ingredients which have been sifted together alternately with ice water to creamed mixture.

6Grease three 8-inch layer cake pans and line with waxed paper.

7Pour in batter.

8Bake in moderate oven (350°) for 30 to 35 minutes, or 9 x 13-inch pan for 50 to 55 minutes.
