- cooking oil
- 1 c. flour
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 egg
- powdered sugar
Directions

1Thirty minutes before serving, heat about 3/4 cup of oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium heat to 370° on deep-fat thermometer. Or heat oil in electric skillet to 370°.

2In a medium bowl, mix flour, milk, baking powder, salt and egg with a fork or wire whisk.

3When oil is ready, hold funnel with finger over spout while pouring 1/2 cup batter into top of funnel.

4Carefully remove finger to let batter run out into oil in a steam, spiraling it to form small circle.

5Fry 6 to 8 minutes or until golden brown, turning once with tongs.

6Drain well on paper towel.

7Sprinkle cakes lightly with powdered sugar.

8Serve warm or cold.
