  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/4 tsp. lemon extract
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 to 4 apples, pared and sliced
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 Tbsp. flour

Directions

    Cream sugar, butter and egg.

    Stir in milk and lemon extract. Blend in flour, baking powder and salt.

    Spread in bottom on well-greased 2-quart baking pan.

    Arrange apple slices on top. Cut butter into the last 4 ingredients, sprinkle over apples. Bake at 350° until it tests done with wooden toothpick (about 40 to 45 minutes).
