- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/4 tsp. lemon extract
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 to 4 apples, pared and sliced
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 Tbsp. flour
Directions

1Cream sugar, butter and egg.

2Stir in milk and lemon extract. Blend in flour, baking powder and salt.

3Spread in bottom on well-greased 2-quart baking pan.

4Arrange apple slices on top. Cut butter into the last 4 ingredients, sprinkle over apples. Bake at 350° until it tests done with wooden toothpick (about 40 to 45 minutes).
