- 1/2 c. boiling water
- 1 (4 oz.) bar sweet cooking chocolate
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 c. softened butter
- 4 egg yolks
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 1/2 c. cake flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 4 egg whites, stiffly beaten
- Coconut Pecan Frosting
Directions

1Heat oven to 350°.

2Grease 2 square 8 x 8 x 2-inch pans or 3 round layer pans.

3Line bottoms with wax paper.

4Pour boiling water on chocolate in small bowl, stirring until chocolate is melted. Cool.

5Mix sugar and butter in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.

6Beat in egg yolks, one at a time.

7Beat in chocolate and vanilla on low speed.

8Mix in flour and beat until batter is smooth.

9Fold in egg whites.

10Divide batter among pans.

11Bake until toothpick comes out clean.
