- 2 c. sugar
- 1/2 lb. whipped margarine
- 3 egg yolks, unbeaten
- 2 1/2 c. cake flour
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. soda (mixed with buttermilk)
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 pkg. German sweet chocolate
- 1/2 c. boiling water
- 3 egg whites, beaten stiffly
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Directions

1Melt chocolate in boiling water.

2Cool.

3Cream margarine and sugar until light and fluffy.

4Add egg yolks one at a time.

5Beat after each addition.

6Add chocolate, vanilla, buttermilk and flour to the egg mixture, beating slowly until smooth.

7Add the soda mixture and fold in the egg whites.

8Bake in layers or in a long, flat pan.

9Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes.
