- 1 pkg. Baker's German sweet chocolate
- 1/2 c. boiling water
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. soda
- 4 egg whites
- 2 1/2 c. sifted Swans Down cake flour
- 1 c. butter or margarine
- 4 egg yolks, unbeaten
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Melt chocolate in 1/2 cup boiling water.

2Cool.

3Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

4Add egg yolks, one at a time, and beat well after each.

5Add melted chocolate and vanilla.

6Mix well.

7Sift salt, soda and flour.

8Add alternately with buttermilk to chocolate mixture, beating well.

9Beat until batter is smooth.
