  • 3/4 c. shortening (can use shortening and butter)
  • 1 c. granulated sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. mild flavored molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 c. plain flour
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • pinch of salt

    Mix 1 cup flour with dry ingredients.

    Mix 1 cup flour and liquid ingredients.

    Make 2 balls and chill.

    Make small balls and roll in granulated sugar.
