  • 1 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 4 Tbsp. molasses
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp. soda

Directions

    Cream together sugar and shortening.

    Add beaten egg and molasses.

    Sift together dry ingredients and add to mixture.

    Mix well and chill for 3 hours or overnight.

    Form into balls the size of a walnut.

    Roll in powdered sugar and bake in 350° oven for 8 to 10 minutes.

    Cool on racks.
