- 2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 c. margarine or butter, softened
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 2 eggs
- 4 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- sugar for dipping cookies
- 3 tsp. baking soda
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
Directions

1In large bowl beat sugar, margarine, molasses and eggs until light and fluffy.

2Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off.

3Stir in flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and nutmeg; mix well.

4Heat oven to 350°.

5Shape dough into 1-inch balls; roll in sugar.

6Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

7Bake at 350° for 8 to 12 minutes or until set.

8Cookies will puff up and flatten during baking.

9Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets.
