  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. molasses
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 1/4 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 egg
  • 2 c. sifted flour

Directions

    Cream together shortening and sugar.

    Add molasses and mix well.

    Sift together dry ingredients.

    Add egg and flour mixture to shortening mixture.

    Shape into balls and roll in sugar.

    Place on a greased baking sheet and bake at 350° for 12 minutes.

    Leave on a sheet a few minutes before removing.
