- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 Tbsp. ground ginger
- 3/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. margarine or butter
- 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 1 egg
- 3 c. sifted powdered sugar
- 3/4 tsp. vanilla
- 2 to 3 Tbsp. water
Directions

1Stir together the flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt; set aside.

2In a large mixing bowl, beat margarine or butter for 30 seconds; add sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Add molasses and egg; beat well.

3Add the flour mixture; mix well. Cover and chill several hours or until easy to handle.
