- 1 cup sugar
- 12 cup vegetable oil
- 14 cup molasses
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 egg
- 2 cups flour
- 1 12 teaspoons baking soda
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 12 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 14 teaspoon ground ginger
- 18 teaspoon ground cloves
- 4 teaspoons sugar, if desired
Directions

1Heat oven to 375.

2In large bowl, mix 1 cup sugar, the oil, molasses, milk and egg with spoon.

3Stir in remaining ingredients except 4 t. sugar.

4Divide dough in half.

5On ungreased cookie sheet, pat half of dough into 14 x 2 inch strip.

6Cut strip lengthwise in half into two 14 x 1 inch stripes with long knife; using knife, seperate strips at least 3 inches.

7Flatten strips slightly with fork with 1 t. sugar.

8Repeat with remaining dough.

9Bake 12-14 minutes or until edges are light brown and tops appear cracked; cool 15 minutes.

10Cut each strip crosswise into 1 inch slices; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.

11Store loosely covered.
