- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. light molasses
- 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/4 tsp. ginger
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 c. boiling water
Directions

1Stir shortening to soften.

2Gradually add sugar, creaming until light and fluffy.

3Add eggs and molasses, beat thoroughly. Sift together dry ingredients, add to molasses mixture alternately with boiling water, beating after each addition.

4Bake in well-greased pan; in moderate oven (350°) about 35 to 40 minutes or until done.

5Serve warm.
