- 2 c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 1/2 tsp. ginger
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 1/4 c. dark brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. sour milk
Directions

1Stir flour, soda, spices and salt together.

2Cream shortening and sugar thoroughly.

3Add eggs, beating until light.

4Alternately add flour mixture and sour milk.

5Beat well after each addition. Pour batter into greased 8-inch square pan.

6Bake at 350° for 1 hour or until done.

7Makes 6 to 8 servings.
