- 1/2 c. oil
- 1 egg
- 1 c. dark molasses
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. hot water
Directions

1Cream the sugar and oil.

2Add egg and beat.

3Add molasses and beat.

4Add spices and salt to flour and sift into mixture.

5Beat good, then add hot water to which baking soda has been added. Beat.

6Pour into greased 9 x 13-inch pan.

7Bake in a 350° oven for 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

8No need to frost.
