- 3/8 c. butter
- 3/8 c. vegetable oil
- 2 c. light brown sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 c. thick milk or buttermilk
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp. ground ginger
- 1 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 3 3/4 c. flour
- 3/4 c. molasses
Directions

1Cream the butter, oil and brown sugar. Gradually add eggs and milk.

2In a small bowl, combine salt, soda, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and flour.

3Gradually mix the flour mixture and the molasses alternately to the egg mixture.

4Blend well.

5Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 3-inch baking pan.

6Bake in a 350° oven for 1 hour.

7Serve with lemon rum sauce or whipped cream.
