- 3 eggs
- 1 c. dark syrup
- 1 c. cooking oil
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. each: cloves, ginger and cinnamon
- 2 large tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 1/8 c. hot water
- 2 c. flour
- 1 c. boiling water
Directions

1Place eggs, syrup, oil, sugar and spices in a large bowl; beat well.

2Add dissolved soda.

3Sift in flour and beat well.

4Add boiling water and beat lightly and quickly.

5Place in 9 x 12-inch pan, greased well.

6Bake at 325° for 45 minutes.

7Serves 10 to 12.
