- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. light molasses
- 1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 c. boiling water
Directions

1Cream the shortening and sugar.

2Add egg and molasses; beat thoroughly.

3Sift the dry ingredients; add to cream mixture, alternating with water and beating after each addition.

4Bake in greased and floured 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan for 35 to 40 minutes at 350°.
